Today we are going to be showing you how to replace body mounts for 08-16 ford super duty. We are going to be showing you on this 2008 F-450 crew cab.

For the Crew Cab you will need eight cab mounts. For the Single and extended cab trucks you will only have six mounts.

If you are going to be installing the S&B silicone mounts the parts number will be 81-1003  for the crew cab. If you have a single or extended can it will be 81-1002. It comes with new bolts that already have loctite applied on them.

Another note if you go with the S&B mounts the mounts and bolts are all the same so it doesn’t matter where they are installed. So if you go with a different kit make sure the mount and length of the bolt are in the correct location on the truck. You will notice the factory bolts are different lengths.

There are cheaper non silicone mounts and some cheaper silicone mounts available as well. Be sure to check if they include new bolts/ hardware as some do not.

The one thing you do NOT want to do is use any kind of power or air tools to remove the bolts from the cab mounts. While it may be faster and easier you will run the risk of breaking the cage nut loose and then having the bolt just spin.

If that happens you will have to gain access to the cage nut and hold it with a wrench or socket. The front body cage nut is under the head light. So you will have to remove it to gain access to the cage nut.

The second one back you will have to pull the foot kick panel off and pull back the carpet.

For the 3rd one back it’s directly under the driver’s or passenger seat. Sometimes you can slide the seat all the way forward, lift the carpet and gain access to the cage nut. You may have to completely remove the seat to get to it.

The 4th and last one is the easiest to get to as you will need to lay the back of the back seat down and remove the jack and tool bag. You will see a small black cap, squeeze and pull upward on it. Under it you will see the cage nut.

We will start on the passenger side front mount under the radiator core support. Well grab the 15mm socket a few ½ extensions to get us lower then the bumper and the breaker bar and well start to remove the bolt. If it goes hard you can apply some heat to loosen and soften the loctite.

You can use a torch but you have access to a bolt induction heater that will work best. Once we have the bolt loosened a few turns with the breaker bar we can remove the breaker bar and switch to a ½ ratchet.

Well continue down the passenger side removing the three other bolts from the mounts. Once we have removed all the bolts on the passenger side we can do the same thing to the drivers side.

Once we have removed all the bolts from the mounts we can now grab a pry bar and separate the lower part of the mount from the top.

For us we had the third mount on both the drivers and passengers side get stuck together from rust. First you will want to see if you can apply some heat to it then grab a hammer and a punch. Well use the hammer and punch to shock the mount and see if it will pop apart.

For us on both of them we were unlucky with the hammer and punch. So we will have to cut them apart.

To cut them well grab the floor jack and jack up the cab and place a 2×4 between the frame and the cab to keep it off the cab mount we are trying to remove.

Then we can grab another 2×4 and place it on the cab mount we are trying to remove and then use the jack to push the mount upwards to create a gap between the frame tab and the upper part of the cab mount.

Next we can grab some safety glasses, hearing protection and a reciprocating saw with a good blade and start cutting the mount.

Once you have fully cut though the mount we can lower the jack and remove the 2×4 from under the mount. You should be able to use the pry bar and remove the lower part of the mount.

With the lower part removed we can remove the top part of the mount. You may need to jack up or lift the cab a bit more to remove the upper part. Once we have the top half of the mount in we can lift the cab up with the floor jack and remove the 2×4 that was holding the cab up off the cab mount.

Now that we have all the upper part of the mounts in we can start to put the lower part of the mounts in and start our bolts by hand. With all the lower mounts and bolts in place you will want to check the cab to bed alignment and make sure the cab didn’t shift/ move while you jacking it up and make sure the body lines align and look good.

Once you are happy with the body lines and alignment of the cab to the bed we can now grab the 15mm socket and ratchet and snug/ tighten all the cab mount bolts.

Now that we have all the bolts snugged down we can grab a torque wrench and set the torque wrench to 76 ft lbs and then torque all the cab mount bolts down. We do have a few other videos on a 2008-2016 ford super duty trucks. One on replacing the shift lever, turning off the seat belt minder, 2008-2010 starter replacement,

With all the cab mount bolts properly torqued down that’s it we have just shown you how to replace body mounts for 08-16 ford super duty.
