Today we are going to be showing you how to replace a Toyota Sienna antenna base. Also known as an antenna ornament or grommet. This should be the exact same for 2012 – 2014. It will be very similar for other years and also other Toyota’s models. We will be showing you on this 2012 Toyota Sienna.

So as you can see this one is missing the top half as it has broken off and the lower part of the  Antenna Base has fallen down on the antenna and into the fender.

So we are going to use an OEM part. The part number is  86392-08020 and it’s called an ornament antenna. There are a few aftermarket ones available but they seem to be a little bit bigger so they are a bit harder to install and are harder rubber.

If you do go with an aftermarket one or even an OEM just to make the install a little easier you may want to fill a cup with hot soapy water. Then place the new part in there. It will heat the new grommet and make it more pliable and the soapy water will provide some lubricant to allow for an easy install.

If you bought an OEM one we can just use a spray bottle with soapy water in it and spray it just before we install it and it should go in rather easily.

To start you need to open the hood and use the prop rod to hold it open. With the hood open we need to grab a flash light and a utility knife to cut off the bottom portion of the old grommet.

You can see by following the windshield wiper cowl all the way to the left. Looking inside the passenger side fender you will see the old grommet. With the old grommet cut in half we can remove it.

Next we can use your hands or a pair of pliers and unthread and remove the actual antenna. With the antenna removed we can grab the bottle of soapy water and spray the fender inside and out and the new Antenna Base.

Well take the new antenna base and push it straight down into the fender ensuring that all the sides are pushed into the fender. It should be tight up against the fender all the way around the new grommet where it meets the fender.

You will want to make sure the antenna threaded receiver lines up within the grommet base so we can reinstall the antenna.

With the grommet in place we can now thread the antenna back in and sung it up so it stays in place.

Once we have the antenna reinstalled well, take a micro fiber cloth and wipe down the area and the new grommet that we sprained with the soapy water.

With the soapy water cleaned/ wiped up, that’s it we have just shown you how to replace a Toyota Sienna antenna base.
