Today we are going to be showing you how to replace headlights on a 2008-2010 F350, F350, F450. We will be showing you on this 2008 F450. We are installing LED projection headlights.

It will be the same process of removing the headlight if you just need to replace a bulb within the headlight or want to just try a set of LED bulbs in the factory headlights.

There are a bunch of options for replacement headlights for whatever your budget is or how you want the truck to look.

They have factory/ OEM looking ones, They have a clear headlights where the reflector is clear/ white instead of orange, Smoked lenses, blacked out housings, integrated LED projection headlights

To start well pull the hood release and open the hood. Well grab a 8mm socket and ratchet. Well use that to loosen the negative terminals on both the drivers and passenger side battery.

With the negative terminal removed we can now grab a 7mm socket and a 8” long or so extension to start to remove the four 7mm bolts that hold the headlight in the truck.

Well start on the passenger side. It’s nice to have a magnetic tray/ holder to place the bolts in so they dont get dropped/ lost.

Once we have removed the four bolts holding the headlight in the truck we can grab a flat screwdriver or a clip removal tool and remove the air temperature sensor off the headlight.

With the temp sensor removed we can grab the headlight and pull straight forward to release the two clips that are on the fender side of the headlight.

With the headlight clips popped out of the fender we can pull the headlight out so we can get our hands behind the headlight to undo all the electrical connections going to the bulbs.

You may find it easier to twist and remove the bulb holder from the light housing and then unplug the bulb holders from the truck wiring.

With the light fully removed we can set it aside and grab the control box and wiring for the daytime running lights.

To install the daytime running light control box you will find a flat surface to use double sided tape to attach it. For us we are going to side it to the radiator core support by the battery.

Once you have the box mounted we can run the wires going to each headlight however you’d like. The shorter lead goes to the driver’s side headlight and the longer one goes to the passenger side headlight.

We choose to  run the passenger side wiring along the hood release cable and zip tie it to it.

With the harness run to each headlight we can install the new AlphaRex – 880313 Led Projector headlights. Well start by plugging in all the electrical connections on the back of the headlights into the truck wiring. Be sure to plug in the trigger wire for the daytime running lights.

Once you have the wiring connected you will want to give it a pull to ensure it’s clicked/ locked in. With the wiring all connected we can slide the light in aligning the two clips on the fender and snap the headlight in.

Next we can grab the four 7mm bolts and reinstall them to secure the headlight into the truck. Now that we have the passenger side headlight installed, we’ll just repeat the process to install the driver side headlight.

With both headlights fully installed we can move onto installing the trigger wire for the daytime running lights to the fuse box.

Next we’ll have to remove the vacuum pump and then the fuse box cover. With the fuse box cover out of the way we can grab some needle nose pliers or a fuse puller.

Well use the needle nose pliers to pull out a fuse and then place that fuse in the fuse holder next to the already installed blue fuse. We choose to pull this 10 AMP fuse out and install the trigger wire for the daytime running light.

With the trigger wire installed into the fuse box we can now reinstall the fuse box cover and the vacuum pump.

Next we can grab the red fused wire and attach it onto the positive terminal of the battery. With the positive side of the control box attached to the battery we can now stick the negative lead behind the nut on the negative battery terminal.

With the negative lead attached to the negative battery terminal we can reinstall the terminal onto the negative battery post. Once that’s complete we can reinstall the passenger side battery cable onto the negative terminal post.

Once we have both the negative battery terminals reconnected we can turn the key ON and see the start up procedure for the daytime running lights. Next we can turn the headlight switch one click to see the running lights come on and work.

Next we can turn the headlight switch all the way on and see that the low and high beam works as they should.

Once we have tested both the lights and all the functions the last thing to do to complete the install is to level the headlights. To do this well start by parking the truck about 25’ away from a wall and on a level surface.

Now that we have the truck parked on a level surface and 25’ away from a wall or smooth surface we can locate the adjuster bolt.

The adjuster bolt is on the back of the headlight housing. If you turn it clock wise it will lower the beam and if you turn it counter clock wise it will raise the beam.

I find it best to do the adjusting in the evening or when it’s dark outside as it makes it easier to see the cut off line.

I also find it best to do a few turns on one side to bring it up and then down on the other side rather than doing all the adjustments on one side.

Each truck will be different based on the height of the truck, stock, leveling kit or a lift kit. The idea is to get the cut off the same on both lights or close to even.

With the headlights adjusted that’s it we have just shown you how to replace headlights on a 2008-2010 F350, F350, F450
