Today we will be showing you how to replace a 2005-2009 Subaru outback rear cup holder within the center console.
You will notice that this cup holder is broken and the cup holding part or flip down part is missing. That will make removing the rest of this one easier as it won’t be in the way. To remove the old console cup holder we will need a panel tool or flat screwdriver.
We will use the panel tool or flat screwdriver to bend the tabs out of the way. There are two tabs on the bottom side, one on the left and right side and lastly to clips on the top side. Well bend the bottom tabs out of the way first then the left side and then the right and lastly we will do the top. As we are bending the tabs out of the way you will want to pull outward on the old cup holder to remove it and keep the tabs from clicking in.
Now that we have the old cup holder removed we can grab a rag and clean the area and back part of the center console. We are using a Dorman 926-439 replacement cup holder and it is a black colored one as that’s what color the interior is in this car and we want it to match. There are also beige colored cup holder as well. The part numbers you are replacing are 66150AG01BWA / 66150AG01AWA.
With the area cleaned up we can unpackage and open the new one as it will not clip into the center console with the cup holder closed as there are tabs that stick out and wont allow it to.
To install the new one with it open will just slide/ push it into the center console firmly until we hear the tabs click and lock into the center console. We check to ensure that all the clips are holding the cup holder into the center console. Once we have checked to see that they are all clicked in we can test the cup holder by closing and opening it a few times to ensure it doesn’t bind and moves smoothly.
With the new cup holder fully installed and operating smoothly that’s it we have just shown you how to replace the rear seat center console cup holder in a 2005-2009 Subaru Outback
