Today we will showing you how to disable a dodge truck seat belt alarm/ chime. If you would like to look it up the procedure it is on page 44 of your owner’s manual. We are going to do it on this 2006 1500 mega cab.
Alright to start well get inside the truck and close the door. Next we can put the key in the ignition. Once we have the key in the ignition well leave it in the off position and then buckle the driver’s seat belt.
The following steps need to be done in the first 60 seconds of the ignition being turned to the ON or start position.
Next we can turn the key to the ON position and once we do that we will wait for the seat belt light to go out and as soon as it does we will unbuckle and rebuckle the seat belt at least 3 times ending with the seat belt unbuckled. You will want to make sure the seatbelt light goes on and off with every click of the seat belt. You will notice I buckled and unbuckled the seat belt 6 or 7 times just to be sure.
Once you have finished buckling and unbuckling the seat belt you can turn the key to the OFF position and you should hear a tone like in the video to let you know that you have successfully done it. Next we can start the truck and test it just to make sure we got it. As you can see we got the first chime but after that it stays quite.
You may also note that if you can’t get it sometimes you may need to retract the seat belt. Some trucks I have had to turn the key on buckle the seat belt and turn key off then start the sequence to disable it. Also on some trucks the seat belt light stays illuminated while the seat belt chime is disabled.
So that’s it we have just showed you how to disable the seat belt alarm/ chime in a dodge truck.
THIS ALSO WORKS ON THE 2011 DODGE DAKOTA.
NOW I CAN CRUISE OUR MOUNTAIN ROADS AT A BLISTERING 15 MPH AND NOT HAVE TO LISTEN TO THE CHIME.
THANKS!!
I AM A 100% BUCKLE UP PERSON ANY OTHER TIME. GOOD HABIT FOR ALL!

Awesome, Glad to hear. Thanks for letting us know and for watching.
and if the light does NOT go off to get to the unbuckling stage? never goes off.
Just to confirm you sit in the drivers seat with the seat belt buckled and the ignition switch off/ locked position to start then turn the key to the ON position the light should go out as the seat belt is clipped in. If you were to start the truck and clip the seatbelt in does the light stay ON also? Does the chime keep going once you go over 20MPH or so? If either of the last two are YES maybe you have a faulty seatbelt receiver (part where it clips into) and its not telling the truck that the seatbelt is clipped in. You can move the seat all the way forward, come in from the back side of it and take a paper clip or something similar and undo the wiring between the truck and the seatbelt receiver and then use the paper clip or wire to jump the truck side together and see if the light goes out. If it does then the seatbelt receiver is bad. Hope that helps you get the problem fixed. Thanks for watching and good luck with getting it fixed.
