Today we will be showing you how to replace the side mirror glass on a 2007-2020 Toyota Tundra or a 2008-2017 Toyota Sequoia. We will be replacing the glass on the driver side of this 2007 Toyota Tundra.
There are some options that your glass can have like heat/ defrosting and the integrated turn signal so see if you have these options to ensure you get the correct replacement glass. Links below to the heated and with the turn signal.
To start we are going to move the mirror glass towards the center of the truck with the mirror switch and up as much as possible. What that is going to do is create a gap in the bottom left hand corner. With the mirror moved to the correct position we can grab a plastic panel tool or a flat screwdriver and stick it behind the glass and the mirror housing and gently pry the cup off the mirror pin removing the glass.
Once we have the glass loose we can undo the two wires for the defrost part of the mirror by just pulling them off the spade terminals. With those defrost wires undone we can now squeeze the wiring clip and undo the wiring for the turn signals within the mirror.
Now that we have the wiring removed we can remove the glass and bring it back to the tailgate. With the glass on the tailgate we can now remove the cup from the back side of the broken glass as our new one does not come with this piece. To remove the cup sometimes you can just pull downward on it from the thicker part of the cup towards the thinner side. If that doesn’t pop it loose we can take the flat screwdriver and put it in between the clip and the cup and twist it in the four clips one by one to get it loose.
Next we can grab our new glass and install the cup onto it. Well start by aligning the four clips and then pushing the cup up and inward into the new glass.
Once we have the cup attached to the new glass its time to reinstall the new glass into the mirror. To do this well align the hole in the cup and the pin on the part that moves the mirror. With it aligned with the pin well squeeze the center of the glass and the center of the backside of the mirror housing to clip it back on.
With it snapped back into position you can move it around a bit just to ensure it indeed did snap back into position. Once we have ensured its snapped on we can proceed to checking the function of the new glass. Well go ahead and turn on the signal and ensure that it does work. Well also test the movement of the glass by going up, down, right and left.
With the new glass in and the mirror functioning as it should that’s it we have just shown you have to replace side mirror glass on a 2007-2020 Toyota Tundra or a 2008-2017 Toyota Sequoia.
